Before we get to the links:
The health and safety of our patients and team is our highest priority. We are continuing to schedule by appointment only to allow for the thorough cleaning of surfaces between visits. We are limiting the number of people in the office at any given time, and we are following other suggested guidelines for safety and prevention to ensure a clean, stress-free environment for everyone.
If this crisis has showed us anything it’s how important it is to have a high level of durable baseline health and resilience—now more than ever!
Here are the links from our Rom Family Chiropractic Facebook page and all the good stuff we posted over the last week!
We like to post things on a wide variety of health topics, but it can all be broken down into 5 broad categories:
- Being well-adjusted
- Eating well
- Moving well
- Thinking well
- Sleeping well
Here are the links we posted from last week:
For most, a healthier lifestyle is naturally easier to do in summer!
But now we are inside more, many people are sitting more with back to school, and back to working longer hours, and as the days get shorter and your schedule feels more full, you feel less energy. This is where our immune systems can really start to take a dip!
Before you know it, the Holidays pile on the stress, and it’s like kryptonite for our innate human super power—our immune system, and that leaves you immune compromised and exposed to whatever bug is out there!!
Well, I say: not this year!! We are here to help! We want you to know that it’s NOT TOO LATE!!
Remote School Is Putting Kids Under Toxic Stress
“Toxic stress is repeated and persistent activation of the body’s fight-or-flight response. Researchers in China have already demonstrated children there were affected by it during the initial stages of fighting the pandemic. Now our children face the same risks.”
Toxic stress was a health problem L O N G before COVID.
Getting adjusted regularly can help!
What are your healthy ways to deal with stress?

Why You’re Likely to Sprain the Same Ankle Repeatedly. The Right Exercises Can Avoid That.
“Proprioception (your body’s built-in GPS) has an especially important role in weight-bearing joints, such as the ankle. When you sprain an ankle, proprioceptors become damaged. This impairs the body’s ability to right itself, and makes it more likely you will sprain that same ankle again. What physicians often call a “floppy” or loose ankle — which results from the initial sprain — actually is a slowdown in the feedback loop between the nerves and the brain. The brain cannot react quickly enough to keep that ankle from turning again…”
The same thing happens in your spinal joints, which is why we always approach care with 3 “tools”:
- Adjustments to restore motion and proprioception
- Exercises/stretches to strengthen the weakness
- Addressing the behavior/cause of injury
Excess Weight Can Weaken The Flu Shot
Italy Did Everything Right to Stop a Second Wave of the Coronavirus. So What Went Wrong?
“What’s particularly troubling about the return of COVID in Italy is that the country has done everything experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci have been advising. Face masks in public places have been compulsory for months, social distancing is strongly enforced, nightclubs have never reopened, and sporting arenas are at less than a third of capacity. Children who are back at school are regularly tested and strictly social-distanced, and yet, the second wave seems completely unstoppable.”
…If masks & social distancing and lockdowns don’t work, will public health officials have to finally consider recommending ACTUALLY BEING HEALTHY?!?
