Before we get to the links:

The health and safety of our patients and team is our highest priority. We are continuing to schedule by appointment only to allow for the thorough cleaning of surfaces between visits. We are limiting the number of people in the office at any given time, and we are following other suggested guidelines for safety and prevention to ensure a clean, stress-free environment for everyone.

If this crisis has showed us anything it’s how important it is to have a high level of durable baseline health and resilience—now more than ever!

Here are the links from our Rom Family Chiropractic Facebook page and all the good stuff we posted over the  last week!

We like to post things on a wide variety of health topics, but it can all be broken down into 5 broad categories:

  1. Being well-adjusted
  2. Eating well
  3. Moving well
  4. Thinking well
  5. Sleeping well

Here are the links we posted from last week:

Effects of Oily Fish Intake on Cognitive and Socioemotional Function in Healthy 8–9-Year-Old Children: the FiSK Junior Randomized Trial

Are your kids getting (enough) omega 3’s?

Children given oily fish high in omega-3 fatty acids for 12 weeks had improved cognitive function, especially with attention and cognitive flexibility, and reduced socioemotional problems compared to children given poultry.

Effects of Aromatherapy on Sleep Quality and Anxiety of Patients

Candles are also a great choice for ‘evening light’ because they don’t disrupt melatonin secretion like conventional or LED bulbs…

Researchers Doubt That Certain Mental Disorders Are Disorders At All

Insightful read on certain mental ‘disorders.’

“What if mental disorders like anxiety, depression or post-traumatic stress disorder aren’t mental disorders at all? In a compelling new paper, biological anthropologists call on the scientific community to rethink mental illness. With a thorough review of the evidence, they show good reasons to think of depression or PTSD as responses to adversity rather than chemical imbalances. And ADHD could be a way of functioning that evolved in an ancestral environment, but doesn’t match the way we live today.”

Multivitamin, Mineral Supplement Linked to Less-Severe, Shorter-Lasting Illness Symptoms

As people get older, the risk of vitamin and mineral deficiencies that contribute to age-related immune system deficiencies rises.

This likely contributes to a decline in the immune system, most often characterized by increased levels of inflammation, reduced innate immune function and reduced T-cell function.

YOU ARE YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM.

NOW IS THE TIME TO GET HEALTHY AND STAY AS HEALTHY AS YOU CAN!

Forty Percent of People with Coronavirus Infections Have No Symptoms. Might They Be the Key to Ending the Pandemic?

A properly functioning human immune system is an incredible super-power!!

“The coronavirus has left numerous clues — the uneven transmission in different parts of the world, the mostly mild impact on children. Perhaps most tantalizing is the unusually large proportion of infected people with no symptoms. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last month estimated that rate at about 40 percent…”

“One mind-blowing hypothesis — bolstered by a flurry of recent studies — is that a segment of the world’s population may have partial protection thanks to “memory” T cells, the part of our immune system trained to recognize specific invaders. This could originate from cross protection derived from standard childhood vaccinations. Or, as a paper published Tuesday in Science suggested, it could trace back to previous encounters with other coronaviruses, such as those that cause the common cold.”

‘Sluggish’ Immune Response May Explain More Severe Covid-19

Interesting read.

“These findings reveal how the immune system goes awry during coronavirus infections, leading to severe disease…”

What controls & regulates the immune system? The nervous system!

As people who get adjusted know, you can’t have a healthy nervous system without a healthy spine!

Metabolic Syndrome Triples Covid-19 Death Risk

You cannot mask the fact that obesity, diabetes and pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, and abnormal cholesterol levels are all predictive of COVID case severity and fatality.

The more of these diagnoses that you have, the worse the outcomes.

Don’t know where to start? Look at what you eat, how you move, what you think, and how you sleep–these are the key ingredients.

Then take a look at your nervous system, because it controls and coordinates EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR HEALTH!
