Optimum Performance and Chiropractic

The link between Chiropractic and sports performance has been discovered by most of the highest level athletes in the world, however you don’t need to be a professional athlete to have a desire to perform your best. The difference between winning and losing is often razor thin, and from professional athletes to weekend warriors, people are always on the lookout for anything that can help give them that edge so they can perform at their very best. What used to be a “secret” of athletes like Babe Ruth over 60 years ago has now become the standard for nearly every professional sports team.

Chiropractic care is a crucial part of the modern sports team, helping athletes stay in the game and performing at their highest levels!

Of course, everyone wants to feel great, but performing your best starts with proper function and movement of the spine & nervous system. And to put it simply: you can’t perform your best if your spine is subluxated–which simply means that a spinal joint is locked up and restricted and ultimately interfering with proper nervous system function and recovery.

Sometimes these subluxations are painful, but most of the time they aren’t painful until they become significantly advanced! Chiropractic care is a safe and effective way to detect and correct these subluxations in order to help increase function, while also reducing pain or discomfort, and helping to avoid spinal degeneration and decay over time.

Over the past ten years, researchers have seen some exciting benefits of Chiropractic care, including the potential for improved strength, balance, flexibility, and even enhanced post-game or post-workout recovery. Recent studies have started to examine how Chiropractic adjustments of the spine can positively impact the function of the central nervous system (your brain and spinal cord) which is how athletes better connect with and control their bodies to get “in the zone” that is often talked about by high level athletes. Researchers refer to these physiologic changes as “improved cortical drive” and “biochemical markers” like hormones and neurotransmitters – we call it awesome!
  • Nearly every major professional sports team has a Chiropractor on staff to help the athletes achieve their best performance.
  • Physical strength and muscle integration (or “cortical drive”) has been shown to increase following a Chiropractic adjustment.
  • The chemistry of the brain, or biochemical markers (such as oxytocin and neurotensin) can also be enhanced as a result of an adjustment.
Part of performing at your best is having an excellent healthcare team behind you. At Rom Family Chiropractic we are happy to be the cornerstone of your all-star healthcare team.
